2 New Tuition Classes At Pusat Tuition Boleh In B. Pahat

I have been longing to have tuition classes in BP and now i have got a good start. As the saying goes, "a good beginning eventually makes a good ending". How true! Having taught 5 years since the year of 2006 have actually enhanced my knowledge and skills. Yet, life is a learning process like a never ending road to perfection and self fulfilling prophecy is indeed a must in ensuring one's level of proficiency.

I always see myself as a burning fire like a hot sun in summer, it is not a gigantic spotlight anyway. lol The thirst for knowledge, the thirst for wisdom and the thirst for improvement are constantly making my tissues dance like a competent ballet dancer. Most of all, the thirst for imparting the values in life and also the knowledge to students, those are the reasons motivating me to give my dear students everything i know. I believe that they are good if not perfect!

Yes, indeed,i want my student to WORK HARD, be SMART, FIGHT but not FRIGHT! Successful people never give excuses! Only failures give excuses! Undoubtedly, i always push my students quite hard, asking them to do vocab test, paragraph test, making lots of sentences, freewriting or essays! Besides their improvement will definitely be shown sooner or later, what most meaningful to me is when they understand the essence of "HARD WORK PAY". There is no free lunch in this world.

Well, i am very confident that my students will be powerful writers, powerful thinkers, resourceful and insightful people in near future! Mr. Yew's students will be really good if students really follow- I BELIVE!

In short, Good luck and all the best to all my dear students. Work hard and Work Smart in the world of English! Enjoy it and Play with it:-) God Bless

1st Batu-Pahat Open Schools Karate-do championship organised by STA

First of all, i would like to thank all karate members and all the volunteers who sacrificed you precious time and energy in helping to make this tournament a success! I am quite happy to see that most of the students did learn something from it.

Besides, on 4th July 2010, our school, SMK TUN AMINAH, won 13 medals. It was a good achievement after all as the girls have only been started training since February this year.

To all the committee members, i really appreciate you hardwork and dedication. However , i hope that we can organize a better tournament by next year. Based on the experiences gained this year, there is no excuse for us not to make it a good if not perfect tournament in the years to come:-)

Touched By The Cards Given From My Class "2D" STUDENTS

Teachers's Day again i enjoyed myself a lot during the celebration. I was having this meaningful event at Catholic High School Malacca last year and it was really fun. This year, SMKTA. So many teachers behaved like children during the games and i was definitely not exception.

I got many cards written with beautiful words in it and i read through happily and eagerly the moment i reached home! I was like a naive child very curious about something new and interesting. It was heart warming to see students' effort in making the cards by themselves and the words in it that show the feelings and perceptions towards the class teacher. I am really fortunate for having them as my students.

Yes, undoubtedly, i am a bit strict to them as i always scold and raise my voice. But, sometimes i have to do these things unwillingly. As a teacher, i don't wish to hurt anyone's feelings or emotions when i say anything. But, if i did, i am sorry!

Anyway, our class has to keep on going for till the end of this year. I hope you guys will co-operate with me and bear with me for few more months. We laugh, we strive and we never say die!

Love you all, my daughters:-)

2010 Batu-Pahat INTER SCHOOLS VOLLEY BALL MATCH

I joined STA volley ball this year and i thought it would be a nice experience and great exposure for me. Yes, i really enjoyed guiding the students as i would actually feel that i am still young and energectic.

Although our team lost but at least our students have learnt a good lesson and they know where their level is. Frankly speaking, our team lost due to team spirit, toghetherness and self confidence. Besides, i should bear part of the responsibility as i didnt really train their basics, skills and strategy!

However, i would like to thank the volley ball students for thier hardwork. Their effor would never be forgotten and i appreciate their love and passion towards volley ball. Students had been training hard from morning till evening despite of the daunting weather but they still kept on practising. Even when it was raining, the girls would still be at the court. Their sweat would be valuable for they have really done their best!

During the match, i was quite nervous. Although they lost and they did a lot of own mistakes. As a coach, i didnt feel shameful but i was feeling bit down as i think that i didnt give them sufficient preparation and guidance.

Anyway, it was enjoyable to be with them for 2 days. I will always rememebr the time when we were at the venue. I wont forget the time when we shouted and cheered loudly for our school. I wont forget the tears fallen down from some palyers' eyes. I wont forget the time when we were at Mc Donald and Pizza Hut. You guys are real cute!

We laughed we cried, We stirve and we never say die!

Love you all! Thank you for everything and sorry for anything if i have hurt your feelings:-)

2nd Monthly Test of SMKTA Is Coming...

Oh My God... Time flies and it is blown away easily without us notice. My school, SMKTA has 6 Tests plus Exams a year and i think it is indeed towering up all other schools in BP.
All teachers have to rush with the syllabus and students will have to follow teachers' footsteps. I am afraid that due to limited time given, teachers have no other alternative but to resort to teach just for the sake of fulfilling the test requirements. On the other hand, students are victims as they have to accept the reality.
The reason of implementing 6 tests a year is good actually as our school will get better ranking due to excellent academics. However, excellent academics do not mean that students are able to live outside the world. It dosent mean that our school can produce generations who are able to think. I doubt!
Anyway, as one of the school teachers at STA, i can only follow the rules but i have to ensure that what i teach is positve in and out. I hope!

GOOD LUCK AND ALL THE BEST TO MY CLASS- 2D!

Introducing Essay Writing to 2D students

Writing is normally considered as a heavy stuff for most students. But, it is peanuts for those who have mastered the writing skills.

Basically, ideas have to come and flow like a river. Water is so powerful that even the rocks in a stream cannot stop it from flowing, water never choose a place to stay. So, dear students, the rocks are just like obstacles on our mind. Try to overcome the obstacles and let your ideas flow like water.

In writing an essay, there are certain things to be rememberd.

1. Flow
2. Logic
3. Linking

An essay will normally has

1. INTRODUCTION- To attract readers' atttention and evoke their curiosity
- To introduce the topic and provide a picture to readers

2. BODY 1 - IDEA
TOPIC SENTENCE
POINTS
EXPLANATION
EXAMPLE
CONCLUSION
(For any body, we must have an idea. Then we have to write a topic
sentence as our main guide for this particular paragraph. After
that, we have to provide point(s), then we should think of
explanation/ example(s) to suppor our stand. Finally, we should
provide a conclusion for the paragaraph)

3. BODY 2 - SAME AS BODY 1

4. BODY 3 - SAME AS BODY 1

5. CONCLUSION - To summarise the points/ ideas
- or state your overall feelings towards the topic

Haha.. you guys just started to learn this format, it is normal for you to feel odd
as you are still not familiar with the format. I can assure you that when you are used to the format, then it is not a problem for you and most of all you are a SYSTEMATIC THINKER. You will be a trained student and the format is very much useful for your FUTURE UNDERTAKINGS.

ALL THE BEST!

YONG PENG KARATE TRAINING CAMP

A wonderful karate training camp held at sjkc yong peng organized by SMKYP Karate club from 17th untill 19th March. I was partially involved in this camp and i was thrilled by the number of participants because it was considered good to have almost 60 participants for a school based training camp.

Haha... I was very happy that 10 of the STA students joined this camp and i really hope that they did learn something back and they also enjoyed themselves during the 3-day camp. I promised my STA students that it would be a fantastic camp before that although i was unsure about it. Luckily, the camp seemed to be successful to most participants, or else i would be doomed.

During the 2nd day of the camp, I led a 2-hour karate training, most students got blue black all over the body and i do hope that they will have speedy recovery. For those who never trained karate before, the training might help to raise their awareness towards own safety- I HOPE!

In short, i was very happy to see that SMKYP KARATE CLUB has successfully organized this meaningful yet distinctive camp and it really benefited all Ajks and participants. KARATE FOR LIFE- OSU!

Do tuition teachers teach better than School teachers?

It was indeed an amusing enconter when i was teaching a Form 1 class today. I am not going to touch the story in details but just to share with you something which is now a trend. A trend where people blindly believe that tuition teachers are more believable just because students pay.

When i was a student, I also joined some tuition classes and i did believe that tuition teachers can teach better. Another reason is probably because tuition teachers would explain everything in chinese and we understood clearly what teachers wanted to convey.

But, school teachers have language limitation. Take me for instance, i am not allowed to use chinese when i teach English. However, i sometimes do some translation in chinese to make sure that chinese students can understand. But chances of using English-Chinese are low.

Back to the story, a few cute sutdents of mine kept saying "No teacher, my tuition teacher said it is like this". They doubted my words and they looked unbelievable. From them, i could sense that they would rather choose to believe what tuition teacher has told. Interestingly, i told them that i am also a tuition teacher and a school teacher, i know the latest syllabus better. Lol... From their eyes, i could sense that they changed their perception.

School teachers are trained teachers, graduated from faculty of ecucational studies in University. They know the pedagogy and also the psychology, they know so many other skills in teaching that non school teacher's tuition teacher doesnt know. But it depends!

A teacher must not only know how to teach the subject matter, but also, a teacher's job is to influence, bring joys, lower students' anxiety level, give encouragements and etc. On the other hand, a teacher has to be a role model for students, influence students to think positively, and teach students how to live.

In short, now to me, tuition teachers or school teachers are similar. Both can be good facilitators if they really LOVE TEACHING:-)

Hello Working, Goodbye CNY Holiday...

How time flies! This year i have a wonderful holiday although i was very busy going here and there for the whole week! However, Celebrating the festival with the beloved family is indescrible as the bond is stronger after each and every occasion. As the saying goes "blood is thicker than water".

Filial piety is the best policy, togetherness is as cool as drinking pepsi, parents are feeling happy, more happy than having money, loving and caring, million toasts filled with appreciation and sincerity to Daddy and mummy:-)

Happiest moments will normally fade away without us knowing, but the wonderful memories are kept in our lexicons for remembrance, now and always!

Hello School and students, hello marking and correcting, hello paper work and sweat, here i am back!

A Sleepless Night

I wonder why i can't fall asleep today although now is already 2:15am, it seems that my mind is runnig wildly like a blind eagle wandering aimlessly in a storming night! Like a lonely pioneer who has yet to come out any idea! Good also, this makes me write something bullshit here!

However, i will try my best to turn in earlier. How i wish i could be "Da Xiong" in Doraemon, the mischievious, weak, jellyfish but cute boy who is a sleeping king. Haha...GOOD NIGHT AND HAVE A NICE SLEEP EVERYBODY!
